Air Peace has condemned what it described as a violent airport assault by a prominent Nigerian politician who missed a scheduled flight. The incident happened at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 in Lagos around 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to a statement released by Air Peace and signed by spokesperson Osifo-Whiskey Efe, the unnamed politician became unruly after missing Flight P47120. The flight, which was bound for Abuja, had already completed boarding and departed at its scheduled time of 6:30 a.m.

Air Peace Says Airport Assault Disrupted Operations

Air Peace revealed that the passenger, upon learning he had missed the flight, physically attacked airline staff and forcefully blocked the terminal’s main entrance. According to the airline, this airport assault delayed other operations and inconvenienced many passengers.

The statement read: “He then forcibly manned the access gate, blocking other passengers from entering the terminal and causing a major disruption to normal airport operations.”

To reduce the effect of the airport assault, Air Peace activated an emergency plan and rerouted passengers through another terminal.

The airline said: “We are appalled by this display of aggression and disregard for aviation procedures.” It further stressed that no individual, regardless of political status, has the right to obstruct operations or threaten the safety of others.

Air Peace Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Airport Assault

Air Peace restated its zero-tolerance stance against airport assault, violence, or harassment toward its staff and passengers. The airline maintained that aviation procedures must be followed and emphasized that security comes before status.

“We urge all travellers to respect aviation timelines and cooperate with staff at all times,” the airline stated. It further assured the public that its goal remains safe and timely travel.

The airline concluded that airport assault, no matter who commits it, will never be overlooked. It reminded travellers that discipline and respect for procedures are critical to safety in aviation.

Air Peace Condemns Airport Assault Without Exception

Air Peace has made its position clear. This airport assault was unacceptable, and the airline wants the public to know it won’t tolerate such behaviour from anyone. With growing concern over how influential figures behave in public spaces, this incident adds to the conversation on accountability.
