Inter Milan attacker Ange-Yoan Bonny has been cleared to play for the Ivory Coast after FIFA greenlit the switch on Friday morning and allowed him to play for them in the 2026 World Cup.
The 22-year-old attacker, who represented France at the U21 level previously, has been allowed to switch nationality via familial relation to the Ivory Coast. Approval from FIFA was received due to the FFF granting him clearance.
It will come as brilliant news to AFCON 2023 winners, as the current World Cup qualifying process for next summer sees them struggling to achieve what many believe is already an unachievable task. The group for next summer comprises Germany, Ecuador, and Curacao, with the matches played in Philadelphia and Toronto, respectively.

The young striker has enjoyed a fantastic debut season in the Serie A. After his summer transfer from Parma, he chipped in with seven goals in all competitions for Inter Milan and became an invaluable backup to Antonio Conte up top.
The forward has been featured in all 10 of Inter Milan’s Champions League matches last term, with two starts only, not a single goal, but managed three assists and gained fantastic experience for the senior Italian side. The striker will now fight for a place on the Ivory Coast squad for the 2026 World Cup.
