With less than 24 hours to the governorship and State Assembly elections in Nigeria, the convoy of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dauda Lawal was reportedly attacked by the state-backed anti-thuggery committee.
Lawal’s convoy had been attacked at Sani Abacha Way in Gusau Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, March 16.
Meanwhile, in a press statement issued in Gusau on Friday, March 17, Dauda Lawal’s Media Office stated that the attack was unprovoked and was an attempt to assassinate their governorship candidate.
According to the Media Office, the anti-thuggery committee had ambushed the convoy and began shooting at the campaign vehicles in Lawal’s convoy during the attack on Thursday night, leaving several police escorts injured.
