The incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) party has readjusted its agenda for the presidential, senatorial, and governorship primaries. According to the new timetable reviewed and released with the aid of Mr. Felix Morka, the National Public Secretary of the party on Wednesday, the presidential primaries will now be held on the 29th and 30th of March.
Also changed were the timelines for the Governorship, Senatorial, House of Reps, and State House of Assembly primaries. For the House of Representatives and the Governorship primaries, they would now be held on the same day, the 26th of May, with the 27th marked out for appeals. The Senate primaries would take hold on the 27th of the month, the State House of Assembly primaries taking place on the same day, and appeals scheduled for a day later, on the 28th. This is a departure from the preceding dates of May 22 for the primaries of the State House of Assembly and May twentieth for Governorship.
According to reports, the timetable readjustment was a result of APC’s want to adhere closely to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s tips which mandate each party to publish a list of applicants to all elective offices and positions on the commission’s seven dates before the commencement of their primaries.
