Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, one of the notable leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has called on President Bola Tinubu to act fast to lessen the increasing economic torment and hunger being faced by Nigerians.
Oyintiloye made this statement at a press conference organized on Sunday in Osogbo, emphasizing that immediate actions are required to address the unbearable prices of foodstuff, fuel, electricity, and cooking gas, which have severely strained the citizens’ pockets.
Although he recognized Tinubu’s effort to ease the Nigerian people’s suffering from hunger and poverty, Oyintiloye nevertheless emphasized that there should be more rapid measures regarding the economic problem.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker and member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), urged the President to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks hindering the swift implementation of policies aimed at alleviating the suffering of Nigerians.
In addition, he expressed worry about the delay in implementing the suspension of customs duties and taxes on imported food materials, which was declared about two months ago. He pointed out that immediate action was required to counteract rising inflation related to prices of staple foods.
