Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has confessed, in an interview, that his party is corrupt. Atiku however, also remarked that the ruling All Progressives Congress was far more corrupt than the PDP could ever be.
Atiku had made this known during an interview with Voice of America which aired on Friday, November 4 He had also stated that Nigeria had fared much better under the rule of the PDP than the APC.
Recall that the PDP was in government between 1999, when Nigeria just returned to democracy after years of military rule, and 2015.
Nigeria’s incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC political party had won the presidential election in 2015, putting an end to PDP’s 16-year-old hold on power
In the course of the Interview, Atiku also admitted that he was not in the least bit bothered by Peter Obi’s popularity in Nigeria, adding that only some youths in a few areas in the southeast were supporting Obi. Peter Obi is also a 2023 presidential candidate from the Labour Party, LP. He had been Atiku’s former vice-presidential candidate during the 2019 elections.
