The ruling party’s flagbearer, APC’s Bola Tinubu, has reacted to the certified court documents released by the US court in Chicago, where he was indicted of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.
The certified US court documents had surfaced yesterday on the internet and it has been making waves since then. The document revealed that a US District Court had indicted the former Lagos State governor and APC presidential candidate for drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.
The certified court documents also revealed that Tinubu was a drug lord who had entered a plea bargain, voluntarily agreeing to forfeit his assets to American authorities in 1993 instead of going to face trial for his crimes.
Reacting to the circulation of the documents, The APC spokesman for the presidential campaign, Bayo Onanuga, who reacted to the document making rounds on the internet yesterday had described the whole situation as a ‘campaign of calumny’ adding that ‘the Muckrakers’ were back in business.
Onanuga had written on his Facebook page:
“The Tinubu transducers on Tuesday have returned to their usual campaign of calumny, this time waking up the carcass of a drug allegation in America that was buried in 1993. Long after that campaign failed in 2003, it resurfaced weeks later, to the primary election of the All-Progressives Congress. The opponents assumed it was lethal enough to make the APC disqualify Tinubu from the race.”
“It failed spectacularly and Bola Tinubu went on to secure the primary election with a landslide victory. The muckrakers are back again with the same story, dressed as ‘certified true copy’ from the U.S. Court.”
Bayo had also, in a mews medium on Tuesday, remarked that the document was one of the unconscionable and wicked lies peddled by political opponents about Bola Ahmed Tinubu was to paint him erroneously as a drug baron/money launderer.
