APC Vice Chairman Says Senate Presidency is For Southern Christians

Salihu Lukman, an APC National Working Committee (NWC) member, and Vice-Chairman, has remarked that a Christian from the South-South region should be spearheading the 10th National Assembly.

According to the Vice Chairman in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 28, reshuffling positions would help douse the current ethnic and religious tension in the country which took root from the Muslim-Muslim ticket of Tinubu and Shettima who were both Muslims and hailed from the South-west and the North East respectively.

Although Nigeria’s ruling party is yet to come up with a zoning formula for the leadership positions in the national assembly, a select number of the senators elected have indicated their interest to contest for the position.
