David Beckham was officially made a knight by King Charles III, receiving one of the greatest honours of the United Kingdom for his incredible contributions to football and charity. The ceremony took place at the Windsor Castle, on Tuesday, and the ex-England captain, was there with his family to be given the title of Sir David.

The knighthood is a recognition of Becks not only of his terrific football career that was over 20 years ago when he was given an OBE in 2003 but also his humanitarian work as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and his association with The King’s Foundation.

Beckham reflected on the life he has lived so far, especially his childhood in East London and said, “I wouldn’t have thought back then that I’ll be given such a super humbling honour.” Being the captain of my country is what I am most proud of and it really was a dream that came true.”

Beckham through hard work and determination became one out of the 6 Manchester United players who made the Class of ’92 and went on to win six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the 1999 Champions League. Apart from Real Madrid, Los Angeles Galaxy, AC Milan, and PSG also featured in his career before he decided to quit football in 2013.

Beckham is ranked among the legendary England footballers of all time as he was awarded a total of 115 international caps which means his contribution to football now stands shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Kenny ‍‌‍‍‌Dalglish.
