According to a report by Russia’s TASS news agency, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on Tuesday that Armenia is prepared to finalize a peace agreement with Azerbaijan by the end of the year. Pashinyan assured that the safety of all Azerbaijani citizens on Armenian territory would be guaranteed.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed optimism about the feasibility of a peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing that achieving an agreement on their shared border is attainable with mutual goodwill.
In recent developments, Azerbaijan swiftly launched an offensive last month to claim control over the secessionist region of Nagorno-Karabakh, which had been under the governance of ethnic Armenians, supported by Armenia, for a span of thirty years. As a result, a significant portion of Nagorno-Karabakh’s approximately 120,000 ethnic Armenians fled to Armenia.
