One of the tenets of the rule of law is that no one is above the law, be you a citizen or a law enforcement agent. Nigeria practices democracy, and the rule of law thrives under a democratic government. A certain soldier named Bulama Salish a soldier of the Nigerian Army deployed to 23 Brigade BN in Maiha LGA of Adamawa state has been arrested for having forceful and carnal knowledge of a minor who is the only daughter of a resident in the area, named Mallam Abubakar. Bulama has been detained by Brigade 23 SP BN and necessary steps will be taken to ensure that justice is served.
It’s a pity that this vice has been an occurrent event, especially with Military personnel, in 2019 an army Corporal was discharged from service and given a 5 years imprisonment sentence for raping a minor. Another Corporal was dismissed from service for raping a 300-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, ondo state.
It is rather shameful that those who should be upholding and enforcing the law are the ones breaking the law. We hope this will serve as a deterrent to others, who will ever think of perpetrating such a vice.
