The Army has detained no fewer than five people for stealing voting boxes from the Agura Primary School in Zuba, Abuja.
The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) subsequently annulled the results and postponed the elections in the two units as a result of the development.
A witness claimed that only three hours into the voting process, some hoodlums decided to sabotage two ballot boxes because they were unhappy with the people’s support for a specific candidate.
The army had to act quickly to intervene and save the situation. But, despite the military’s efforts, some ballots had already been thumb-printed and were not recovered, which prompted INEC to declare the results null and void.
