Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta, to spark a conversation after his Arsenal exit the UEFA Champions League in the Semi final. He said his side were the best team in the competition despite losing the tie 3-1 on aggregate to Paris Saint-Germain.
Arteta told TNT Sports, the interviewer, after a 2-1 loss in the match at Parc des Princes, the latter defeat being responsible for stopping their European tour: “I don’t think there’s been a better team in the competition from what I’ve seen.” He also added that PSG staff confessed to Arsenal that they were the better team, saying, “They just told me that.”
But Luis Enrique, the coach of the Paris team, was quick to disagree with what Arteta said. “I don’t agree at all,” Enrique asserted. “We scored more goals over two legs. That’s the most important thing. Arsenal played well, but we deserved to reach the final.”
Also, Arsène Wenger was the first to advise against what Mikel Arteta had just said, speaking on beIN SPORTS. Wenger said that PSG had more opportunities as well as being a side that seldom found themselves in potential challenges from Arsenal.
João Neves, PSG midfielder, sounded off the same opinion: “We were the better team. But Arsenal are a very strong side with a lot of quality.”
Arsenal will go another year without adding any trophies while PSG progresses to the final match of Champions League 2021.
