A donation of N100 million was made to the Borno State government by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to aid people affected by the Alau Dam flood recently. This donation was made known to the public during a visit of sympathy to Governor Babagana Zulum in Maiduguri.
Atiku Abubakar expressed his condolences to the families of those who died from the floods and prayed for a quick recovery for those who were injured, as well as others who lost their properties.
He urged further interventions from different organizations and philanthropic individuals in order to assist the government and people of Borno state with recovery efforts.
Atiku Abubakar also called for an inquiry into what caused the flooding, so that measures can be put in place to avoid any similar occurrence in the future.
In solidarity, delegations from Yobe and Gombe states, that also went to that region, announced N100 million each as donations meant to assist flood victims.
