Alleged bandits had on Monday instigated an attack on Gandu, a community situated near the Federal University of Lafia –FULafia, in Nasarawa State, abducting several residents and leaving others grievously injured.
A source within the community, who spoke to news reporters on the condition of anonymity had on Tuesday morning, confirmed the attack, revealing that the bandits attacked at around 7:00 pm on Monday evening.
The attackers harmed a good number of individuals, who have since been conveyed to a nearby medical facility for immediate treatment.
The latest incident is coming less than three weeks after an earlier attack claimed the life of one person in the same community.
The state government, in response to the earlier incident, had vowed to shore up and strengthen security measures in and around the campuses of the institution.
The state government has said it will erect security outposts and provide vehicles for security officials to survey the area.
The government also promised to establish checkpoints within and around the university.
