The Bangladesh government has outlawed the use of Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, YouTube and other social media networks illegal by its citizens.
This is according to a report by Global Eyes News made to its official X account on Friday.
This development means that as from Friday, August 2, access has been restricted to these popular social media apps throughout the country.
Recall that a previous shutdown of Meta had been implemented from July 17 to July 31 in the country, as a response to the unrest that had stemmed from the quota reform protests.
The Bangladesh government’s announcement is coming hours after Turkey also announced a ban on Instagram.
