Reports suggest Barcelona will reject the Ivory Coast winger in favour of trying to bring the Newcastle United winger Gordon to Catalonia in a £80m deal.
Barcelona had been following the development of Ivory Coast teenager Diomande for some time before the Catalans decided against trying to recruit him during the summer transfer window.
Manager Hansi Flick, having previously considered how best to strengthen his forward line, is said to have turned his attention to a talented young prospect at St. James’s Park, according to the Spanish press, who he believed to be a better stylistic fit for Barcelona’s playing style.

The England winger, a quick and dynamic presence, is seen as someone who fits his vision at Barcelona, and he had requested the recruitment of Gordon as his top transfer priority.
Barcelona went on to sign Gordon in a blockbuster deal estimated at £80m during the transfer window, and he will carry a high burden of expectation heading into the new campaign.
Diomande remains a highly-rated prospect, having attracted the attention of Liverpool during the summer window as well as other elite clubs across Europe, but recent news has indicated the 18-year-old’s preference lies with PSG.
