The Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has asked all residents of the state to defend themselves and confront bandits because security officials cannot solely tackle the insecurity in the state.
Bauchi, like sister North-west states of Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto, and Kebbi, has constantly witnessed attacks by terror groups on an almost daily basis, and earlier this week, terrorists had killed 20 people and injured several others in the villages surrounding Duguri District of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi.
Governor Bala Mohammed, during a visit to the area on Thursday, December 29 had described the situation as unfortunate and an unacceptable trend that had to be stopped after which he charged the residents of the area to immediately rise, take up arms, and defend themselves.
“You are known to be male; you shouldn’t allow these bad elements to subdue you. Defend your land and liberate yourselves.”
He then added that the people should thoroughly search themselves and bring out the bad eggs amongst them who were serving as informants to the terrorists, stressing that without inside information, the bandits could not easily operate.
