The rapper, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule, took to Twitter to share his unexpected takeaway from the performance.

“Yesterday, I performed at a company’s end of the year party, very mature audience, that was when I realised how vulgar my lyrics actually were,” he wrote. “Looking mummy & daddy in the eye while saying ‘can’t let these f**king b*tches see no emotion’ is something I’d never forget “

Blaqbonez’s tweet resonated with fans and sparked a wider conversation about the impact of music lyrics, especially on younger audiences. Some agreed with his sentiment, citing instances where they felt his lyrics went too far.

“Emeka ur lyrics have always been the issue in a majority of your songs,” commented one user. “No-one can deny ur talent or unique vocals, but u need to work on your songwriting skills.”

Others, however, defended Blaqbonez’s artistic freedom and argued that his music serves a different purpose.

“Blaq is just being Blaq,” another user wrote. “He’s not making music for your corporate crowd, he’s expressing himself, and if that’s vulgar to you, well, maybe his music isn’t for you.”

Blaqbonez’s Candid Confession Sparks Debate

The debate highlights the complex relationship between music, lyrics, and societal expectations. While artistic expression is crucial, concerns about the influence of potentially harmful content, especially on young people, remain valid.

Blaqbonez’s epiphany, whether a permanent shift or a fleeting thought, is something to watch as he navigates his artistic journey. Will he adjust his lyricism? Will he find ways to retain his signature style while pushing boundaries responsibly? Only time will tell.

But one thing is certain: this conversation is important. It’s a conversation about who music is for, what messages it sends, and what responsibility artists hold in shaping the soundscape we all inhabit.

My Personal Opinion:

As a music fan, I believe in artistic freedom and self-expression. However, I also recognize the power of music and the potential impact it can have on listeners, especially young people. While others enjoy Blaqbonez’s music and appreciate his wit, not everyone thinks his introspection is admirable. Finding a balance between creative freedom and responsible lyricism is a challenge facing many artists, and Blaqbonez’s experience offers a valuable perspective in this ongoing conversation.

Ultimately, it’s up to each individual artist to decide where they draw the line. But by sparking dialogue and encouraging critical thinking, Blaqbonez has done a service to the music community, prompting us to consider the messages we consume and the role music plays in our lives.

Remember, music is powerful. Let’s listen responsibly and engage in conversations that make our music scene richer and more inclusive for all.
