Todd Bohely, Chelsea’s new owner has disclosed the actual reason why he abruptly sacked Thomas Tuchel, which is because Tuchel didn’t share the same vision with them.
Bohely and the rest of the management, sacked Tuchel last week, immediately after Chelsea’s loss to Zagreb in the UEFA champions league. Less than 48 hours, Graham Potter was appointed as the new manager of Chelsea.
Giving his reason for sacking Tuchel, Bohely said that, when you take over a business, it’s essential to make sure you and the people in that business are moving in the same direction. Tuchel no doubt is talented and has done much for Chelsea, but he didn’t fit into their shared vision, as they couldn’t collaborate together.
He further stated, that there were a lot of decisions to make concerning the team, and Tuchel didn’t share the same perspective with them.
Bohely then debunked the rumors that Tuchel was sacked because of Chelsea’s poor start at the EPL campaign. According to Bohely, Tuchel was not sacked because of their defeat by Zagreb, or because of any loss or win, but was a decision they had to make because Tuchel didn’t align well with them.
“When you take over any business, You have to make sure you are aligned with the people in the business, and Tuchel is obviously extremely talented and someone who had great success with Chelsea,” Boehly said, speaking at the SALT Conference in the United States.
“Our vision for the club was to find a manager who really wanted to collaborate with us, a coach who really wanted to collaborate.
“There are a lot of walls to break down at Chelsea. Before, the first team and academy did not share data, did not share information about where the top players were coming from. Our goal is to bring a team together; all of that needs to be a well-oiled machine.
“The reality of our decision was that we were not sure that Thomas saw it the same way we saw it. No one is right or wrong, we just did not have a shared vision for the future. It was not about Zagreb, it was about the shared vision for what we wanted Chelsea to look like.
“It was not a decision that was made because of a single win or loss. It was a decision that we thought was the right vision for the club.”
Several people have criticised Tuchel’s sack, as they felt he was unjustly fired despite his sacrifices for the club.
