The Borno State House of Assembly Speaker, Abdulkarim Lawan, has raised alarm over the resurgence of Boko Haram terrorist activities which he revealed, were now in control of two local government areas in the state.
Though the Federal Government has denied that no territory in the country was currently under the control of terrorists, Lawan claims that Guzamala and Kukawa local government areas in Borno North Senatorial District were at present, being controlled by the insurgents.
Lawan, a lawmaker representing Guzamala in the House, made the revelation on Sunday, 11 December 2022, while briefing newsmen, telling the military to raise its game to chase the terrorists from those two councils.
“I have consistently pleaded with the federal government to deploy security there so that the civil population can return. This situation is not restricted to my local government alone. The situation applies to Kukawa Local Government Area as well.” Lawan had appealed.
The Lawmaker had additionally lamented, “We, the individuals from those local government areas, are being affected by this setback because we have been left out for so many years in the massive development projects that the state government has been deploying to the other local government councils.”
