Napoli and Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen has been released from the hospital after five days, but will be re-evaluated in a fortnight.
The club confirmed in a statement that the 22-year old was discharged from the Ruesch Clinic on Thursday and will see a doctor for re-evaluation in 10 to 15 days.
After colliding heads with Inter defender Milan Skriniar in an unintentional collision, Osimhen sustained facial fractures, but the centre-face forward’s was severely wounded.
Although it was clear that he had fractured his cheekbone, Osimhen’s facial fractures required’ six plaques and 18 screws’ to repair the ‘devastating’ damage, according to the surgeon who operated on him.
Initial checks had ruled Osimhen out for 90 days, which meant he would have missed January’s Africa Cup of Nations billed for Cameroon but with Napoli’s announcement that he’s been released today, there are hopes that he could return sooner than the 90 days prognostication.
According to the club, Osimhen will relax at home for a few days before being re-evaluated in two weeks, as the initial recovery duration of 90 days cannot be guaranteed.
