Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler has denied the midfielder Carlos Baleba that is related to a summer transfer to Manchester United, saying that he is “very, very, very” confident the player will stay at the Amex Stadium.
After adding Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško to their strike force, United is said to be scouting the transfer of a central midfielder before the window shuts.
Baleba, 21, is one of the possibilities, with the press stating that the Cameroon international is willing to go to Old Trafford. In any case, that Brighton’s approach is explicit. The Seagulls tag Baleba at more than £100 million ($135.4 million) and still have him in their contract until 2027, with an option to extend for one more year.
Delivering on those terms is thought to be the biggest obstacle for the Red Devils. While speaking to the media before Brighton’s Premier League home game against Fulham, Hürzeler gives no credit to fears and stresses that Baleba keeps his concentration and his loyalty although there is a lot of speculation around his name.
“I didn’t see any change, he’s only changed his hair,” he joked. In case a minor knee injury hinders Baleba’s participation at the weekend, the Brighton boss commented that Baleba will be on the list of players for the match if he is fit.
