Tobi Amusan, who won the women’s 100-meter hurdles gold medal for Nigeria at the World Athletics Championship 2022, has received the sincere congratulations of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The president joined millions of Nigerians in congratulating a fellow countryman and two-time African Games champion who in one night astonished the athletics world with her spectacular and stellar performance, according to a message from his spokesman, Femi Adesina, on Monday in Abuja.
The president thanked the track superstar for making ”the Nigerian national anthem resonate again from the international podium, leaving the nation with the excitement and unforgettable memories of tears of joy and triumph; hope and victory; incredulity and belief.”
He claims that the golden girl’s illustrious career and accomplishments will continue to motivate future generations of Nigerian athletes to attain extraordinary success.
He also praised Ese Brume for proudly and honorably representing Nigeria by taking home a silver medal in the women’s long jump competition.
In addition to President Buhari praising Tobi and Ese Brume, candidates for president in the 2023 general elections, Atiku, Peter Obi, and Tinubu also made congratulatory comments on Twitter in support of Tobi’s world record and Eze’s silver medal in the long jump competition.
Tobi Amusan’s world record-breaking dash at the recently finished World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA, which saw her win Nigeria’s first-ever World Championship gold, has also received accolades from fans all around the world.
The hurdler, who has accomplished numerous world records, has now become the first Nigerian to win a Diamond League trophy, break a world record, and achieve the title of World Champion.
