President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, to ensure that the country’s border remains impenetrable to infiltrators ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
This was contained in a statement made available to news reporters by the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
The Minister of Interiors, Rauf Aregebesola, had through his Media Adviser, Sola Fasure, disclosed President Buhari’s directive while launching the Katsina NIS command office and the enhanced e-Passport in the state.
Fasure had said, “President Muhammadu Buhari has given the directive for Nigerian borders to be made impenetrable to foreign bodies who may want to come in and manipulate the election process or engage in various illegal activities.”
According to Aregbesola, the President’s order was slated for between when the directive was given and the period that Nigeria concludes all forthcoming elections, till even after the elections.
