President Buhari had on Thursday evening, April 6, terminated the appointment of Saratu Umar, who had been the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission, with immediate effect.
The president had, in a directive to the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, mandated the most senior Director in the Commission to immediately take over while Umar’s replacement is being determined.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, had broken the news through a statement he signed on Thursday titled: ‘President Buhari terminates the appointment of Saratu Umar as NIPC boss.’
The sack has marked the end of Umar’s eight-month stay to an end and is coming less than a week after a Premium Times report unearthed fault lines in the Commission’s administration.
