According to reports received in Abuja on Tuesday, the Christian Association of Nigeria would elect a new president on the 28th of July, 2022.

This was stated by the organization in the schedule of events and timetable for its Year 2022 General Assembly and leadership transition program, which was signed by Rev. Samson Ayokunle, Special Assistant (Media and Communication) to the departing CAN President.

After the General Assembly, where his nomination is anticipated to be accepted, the next CAN President will be announced on July 28, according to Oladeji.

Contrary to rumors spreading on social media, the religious organization, however, made no mention of the contender for the top position in CAN.

According to the Christian Association of Nigeria transition timetable, the National Christian Centre in Abuja will host the 2022 General Assembly from the 27th of July to the 29th of July, 2022,

The tenure of His Eminence, Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, and several members of the National Executives under his team will come to an end with this ceremony, which will also herald a new administration.

At the Jubilee Resorts, National Christian Centre, Abuja, on the 27th of July, 2022, there will be a symposium on the leadership challenges in Nigeria.

On the 15th of June, 2016, Rev. Samson Ayokunle was elected as the inaugural CAN President, succeeding his godfather, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, who concurrently served as President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

On the 19th of June, 2019, he won reelection for a second three-year term after defeating Dr. Caleb Ahima, the President of the Fellowship of Churches of Christ in Nigeria.
