The use of lip fillers for cosmetic enlargement is not a new phenomenon. The procedure dates back to the 1900s, when surgeons injected paraffin into patients’ lips. However, throughout time, this method has been modified to provide a more realistic appearance. This, on the other hand, grew in popularity and became a global craze after business entrepreneur Kylie Jenner confirmed using them.

I wouldn’t say the lip filler trend is over because young adults are maturing and gradually adopting the beauty trends that these celebrities have established as beauty standards. Those who have had their fill of indulging in all the different beauty trends, on the other hand, wish to remain natural. The forthcoming beauty trend appears to be centered on minimalism and simplicity, extending from makeup to face and body features. As a result, this article will cover safe methods for dissolving lip fillers.

What are Lip Fillers?

Before we go into other aspects of lip fillers, let’s first define them briefly. Lip fillers are injections that make the lips appear bigger and more contoured. Hyaluronic acid is a common ingredient used in the composition of lip fillers.

Moreover, there are a couple of reasons why some people might be interested in removing their lip fillers. One of the reasons is that they no longer prefer the way fillers look on their lips. They could possibly be experiencing side effects, or they may simply wish to change their style, and having a lip filler is no longer their style.

Types of Lip Fillers

There are different kinds of lip fillers. The most common ones are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), which gives a natural look and can be easily changed or removed if needed.

Other types include collagen fillers, which were used more in the past, and fat transfer fillers, where fat from another part of your body is injected into your lips. Fat transfer fillers are more permanent but involve more complicated procedures.

How Can You Dissolve Lip Fillers?

Most lip fillers, particularly hyaluronic acid fillers, break down naturally over time. This typically takes 6 to 12 months to break down since the body creates an enzyme called hyaluronidase over time. However, the filler does not totally disintegrate, and remnants of it can remain in your body even after a year.

Collagen fillers, on the other hand, take significantly longer to dissolve, often more than two years, because the body does not easily dissolve or breakdown this form of filler. To avoid complications, as with hyaluronic acid fillers, the best course of action is to be patient and let them dissolve naturally or go in for a hyaluronidase injection. Unfortunately, fat transfer fillers present a completely different scenario. Fat transfer fillers are more permanent but involve more complicated procedures.

How Can You Remove Lip Fillers At Home?

You may have heard a beauty influencer advise people to try removing lip fillers at home with techniques such as massage or compresses. However, it is rarely effective and can be dangerous. These procedures may hurt your lips or cause the filler to spread unevenly, giving your lips an odd appearance.

The best and safest choice is to consult a specialist who understands how to handle the situation. Experts will employ hyaluronidase injections to break down hyaluronic acid fillers so they can be safely removed.

Bottom Line

Lip fillers, particularly those containing hyaluronic acid, are popular for plumping the lips, although they disappear naturally within 6 to 12 months. Collagen fillers have a longer lifespan of over two years.

Don’t use DIY filler removal treatments at home, like as massage or compresses, because they can damage or irritate your lips. It’s safer to see a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon, who can safely dissolve them with injections.

Natural looks are popular right now, therefore getting rid of fillers properly is one of the many steps to keeping up with cosmetic trends without complications.
