Russia and China have launched the first-ever vehicle bridge connecting both countries. The Blagoveshchensk-Heihe bridge was launched amidst celebrations as freight trucks drove through the bridge and fireworks in the colors of the Russian flag; white, blue, and red, were fired in the background
There had been no vehicular movement from both countries as movement from Russia to China had been through riverboats, hovercraft, floating bridges, and ice roads. This recent development would now allow people to be able to move to and fro both countries through vehicles.
About 318 million dollars had been spent on the bridge, but Vasily Orlov the Governor of Amur had said that toll will be collected from the users of the bridge and their investment is expected to be gotten back in about twenty years.
Covid-19 restrictions in China are currently constraining vehicular movement into the country but there is an estimate of the bridge allowing the movement of 630 freight trucks, 164 buses, and 68 vehicles every day after the restrictions have been removed.
