Enzo Maresca, Chelsea manager, has gone on to say that the striker is not going to play in the game against West Ham Premier League on Friday although he is ready and accessible.
The 24-year-old footballer, who was bought by the Blues from Villarreal for £32m in 2023, has been the subject of many transfer rumors around the Bridge this summer.
Jackson was out of contention for Chelsea’s opening-day draw with Crystal Palace due to suspension, but the rumors about his future have become louder after Joao Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich were signed.
Both Aston Villa and Newcastle are keeping a close eye on the Senegal international, as the Magpies are thinking of him as a replacement for Alexander Isak if they are to lose him.
Maresca was not giving much away when asked about Jackson’s future, saying: “He is available, but he is not going to be part of the squad… I think we are expecting something else before the deadline.”
Palmer is the only player who has been more effective than Jackson since the latter’s arrival at Chelsea (42).
On the other hand, fellow forward Christopher Nkunku is also not certain about his staying at Chelsea as Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in a loan move. As Chelsea are preparing for a permanent transfer, however, they are considering the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons as possible replacements.
