It has been reported that Chelsea is very close to securing a permanent deal for Joao Félix from Atlético Madrid. The final details are being sorted out for the transfer deal. Felix scored four goals in 20 appearances on loan at Chelsea in 2023 and will sign with the Blues until 2030, with an option for an additional year on a six-year contract.
Fabrizio Romano: “Verbal agreement reached” with only minor details remaining. Expected to be £40 million plus add-ons.
Félix joined Atlético Madrid as far back as 2019 for a then-record €126 million from Benfica but has not appeared competitively for the Spanish club in 19 months. He spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he scored ten goals while creating another six in 44 appearances, most of which came from the left flank.
Given that Chelsea has already confirmed nine signing this summer, Félix could become the tenth. This deal is coming from the back of a possible deal failing for Samu Omorodion. The Portuguese forward will provide depth in attack for manager Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.
