The proposed loan of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich started some upheavals as the Premier League club decided against it at the last moment.
On Saturday, the 24-year-old made a trip to Germany to complete his season-long move to the Bundesliga winners, but after encountering fresh injury issues, Chelsea changed their position.
Liam Delap will be out for up to eight weeks with a hamstring injury, while Cole Palmer also has a groin injury.
As Christopher Nkunku has already been transferred to AC Milan, the departure of Jackson from the team would have left coach Enzo Maresca no choice but to work with Joao Pedro as his only senior striker.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the cancellation of the deal by saying: “After we agreed yesterday, Chelsea informed us that they want the player back. The boy is with us in Munich, but we are taking him to his place.”
Anyway, Jackson is said to be angered by Chelsea’s U-turn and that he has not yet gotten on his way back to London as his people hustle the deal to be restarted. Diomansy Kamara, his agent, insisted via social media: “We’re not going back. Going back does not apply to the plane: Munich.
”
Besides that, Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Sporting striker Conrad Harder before the deadline on Monday, which could be the reason why Jackson’s Bayern transfer can still be facilitated.
