Iddrisu Suweidu, the head coach of Tiyumba Ladies FC, a Ghanaian women’s Division One B team, allegedly severely beat a female referee named Mohammed Sakina Nasara. The incident occurred during Tiyumba Ladies FC’s home match against Soccer Missionaries Ladies FC in Tamale.
Suweidu reportedly stormed onto the pitch and violently attacked the center referee after she awarded an indirect free-kick against his team, who were leading 1-0. The referee sustained various injuries as a result of the assault and was promptly taken to Tamale Technical University Hospital for medical treatment, according to Ghana Web.
In response to the incident, the police have initiated a search for coach Suweidu, who is currently on the run and evading capture.
