Vasiliy Lomachenko would triumph against Gervonta Davis if the two boxing greats eventually face each other, according to fellow pro Conor Benn following a shock retirement U-turn by the Ukrainian fighter.

Lomachenko stunned the world of boxing last month by announcing his return following a 2025 retirement with 18 wins against three defeats as a professional. The former three-weight world champion walked away from the sport after regaining the lightweight world title via a knockout win against George Kambosos.

His return would, therefore, pave the way for a much-demanded bout against the American champion, with fans eager to see two of the finest pound-for-pound fighters on the planet step into the ring together. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old admitted that the veteran Ukrainian would gain his backing right now.

“Currently, right now, Lomachenko,” Benn revealed when pressed on whom he’d wager his money on.

Benn’s reasoning for not picking ‘Tank’ Davis is that the American hasn’t looked at his usual best since his controversial draw against Lamont Roach back in March 2025. He has also been having trouble outside of the ring, as you can see.

A Lomachenko vs. Davis bout may not be expected to come too soon, however, as the 38-year-old is reportedly looking to move down to the super-featherweight division to fight Emanuel Navarrete, the unified WBO and WBA world champion, in his comeback fight.

If it proves to be a victory, the 38-year-old veteran would likely look for a third world title reign before then, considering a bout with Davis in perhaps the biggest fight of the year.
