The Independent National Electoral Commission -INEC, has announced that new voters card registration currently ongoing across the country) has reached 10,487,972 as of 7 a.m. yesterday, June 27. The commission in its weekly Continuous Voter Registration update, released in F.C.T Abuja yesterday, also announced that 8,631,696 registrants had successfully finished their registrations.
It reported that 3,250,449 of its registrants finished the registration process through online means, while 5,381,247 completed theirs through physical registration. The gender assessment of the registrants who had finished their voters’ card registration was composed of 4,292,690 males and 4,339,006 females, with the gender slot revealing that 6,081,456 of the figures were Nigerian youths, while 67,171 were Persons with Disabilities -PWDs.
The report further revealed that INEC had gotten a total of 23,560,043 applications including from citizens applying for voter transfer, requests for replacement of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and updates of their respective voter information records.
The breakdown also showed that 12,317,963 of the applications were from the male gender, 11,242, 080 were from the female counterparts, while 187,904 applications were received from PWDs; People with Disabilities.
