The Abia All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship primary poll, which was held on May 29, 2022, was declared invalid by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday.
As a result, the trial judge has mandated that a new primary election be held within 14 days. The decision was reached by Justice Nyako in a ruling on a lawsuit filed by Chief Chikwe Udensi challenging the results of the APGA’s governorship primary, which Prof. Greg Ibe was said to have won.
The judge noted that the May 29 APGA governorship primary in Abia State was defective and plagued by irregularities based on the evidence and witness testimony. Udensi had asked the court to appoint a new primary or, in the alternative, declare him the winner of the APGA governorship primary.
