The Independent Electoral Commission has been ordered by the Federal High Court in Abuja, to resume voter registration until 90 days before the 2023 general election.

This decision was given by Justice Inyang Ekwo, to allow full participation of Nigerians in the election, and in order not to deprive Nigerians of the right to vote.

“The case of the plaintiffs succeeds on merit,” the judge declared.

According to Justice Ekwo, it is the responsibility of INEC to ensure that adequate provision is made for the exercise.

INEC was sued by Anajat Salmat and three others, who argued that INEC has no right to stop the continuous voter Registration contrary to what is stated in the Constitution. They urged the court to order INEC to Resume the CVR
