The nominations for the 2026 Yashin Trophy have been published and are split among 10 goalkeepers in the men’s nominations and 5 in the women’s awards.
The Yashin Trophy, named after the late legendary Soviet and Dynamo Kyiv keeper, awards the world’s top custodian to a player whose achievements can be ranked according to individual form before club and national performance, as well as their sportsmanship.
There has to be a new man’s award winner in 2026, as current men’s holder of the Yashin Trophy Gianluigi Donnarummais left out of the nominations after being selected last time to be granted this prize in 2025.
Among the favorites to succeed the Italian is current Real Madrid and Belgian shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois, having enjoyed another brilliant season, while Barcelona keeper Joan Garcia makes his first nomination after playing his maiden campaign with the Catalans.
Arsenal’s David Raya, with his Golden Gloves achievement in the 2025-2026 Premier League season, and Chelsea’s Emiliano Martinez are nominated as well.
Also nominated in the men’s award are Paris SG’s Matvey Safonov, Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel, Al Hilal’s Yassine Bounou, Al Ahli’s Édouard Mendy and Spain’s Unai Simón as well as one goalkeeper, veteran Vozinha from Cabo Verde.
This year’s current women’s award holder Hannah Hampton is accompanied with Ann-Katrin Berger, Cata Coll, Manchester City’s Ayaka Yamashita and Kansas City Current keeperLorena’ as nominated for the women’s Yashin Trophy in 2026.
Martinez has won the Yashin Trophy twice before this season, and Courtois also won it once last season.
