The chairman of the Conference of Northern States Civil Society Network, Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, on Sunday, March 12, had tasked Nigeria’s electoral commission to use the conduct of the forthcoming polls as another fresh opportunity to address the pitfalls recorded in the presidential/National Assembly polls.
The network had also advised INEC to ensure the use of trained ad hoc staff to handle BVAS, unlike in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, where an untrained ad hoc staff was instructed to handle the Bimodal Voters Accreditation Systems, BVAs.
Waiya, while suggesting the way forward had said that INEC should fix the challenges immediately to restore the confidence and trust of Nigerians in the electoral umpire’s process.
Additionally, Waiya had encouraged INEC to address the sabotage of the INEC officials who had short-changed trained ad-hoc staff a day before the presidential polls and replaced them with untrained officials.
