Residents of Culpeper County, Virginia, woke up this week to a fresh appeal from the Board of Supervisors, urging citizens to keep supporting local programs through voluntary contributions in 2025.

In a statement signed by David E. Durr, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, the county revealed that citizens donated over $38,000 in 2024 to sustain critical community services. With tax dollars stretched thin, the board says voluntary support remains essential to maintain services that touch nearly every household in Culpeper.

Among the programs open for 2025 contributions are: the Culpeper County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association, the Culpeper Animal Shelter’s spay and neuter program, children’s and senior assistance initiatives under the Department of Human Services, Parks and Recreation programs, and the Culpeper County Library.

Durr noted that while residents may have concerns about tax implications on such donations, those issues are best directed to tax attorneys or accountants, stressing that every contribution will be used carefully.

“We want to thank you for your participation, and we will strive to make every penny count,” the statement read.

The board also extended gratitude to citizens for their ongoing support of community programs, calling them the backbone of the county’s service system.

The contribution notice, titled 2025 Voluntary Contribution, was circulated to households with details on how residents can choose programs and submit payments through the Culpeper County Treasurer.
