Stephen Curry exploded at Kia Center on Thursday night, scoring a season-high 56 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 121–115 win over the Orlando Magic. The two-time MVP was lighting up the night, dialing 12-of-19 three-point shots and terminating 16-of-25 from the ground.
Curry’s stellar showing was the fourth-highest scoring game of his career and just six points from his personal best, 62 points against Portland in 2021. It was also his third career game with at least 12 three-pointers, and the first since 2016.
In dire straits at halftime, down 14, the Warriors leaned on their superstar, who exploded for 22 points in the third quarter alone, outscoring the Magic by himself. One of his highlights was a 50-foot three-pointer that he launched with the halftime buzzer sounding, and it stunned the Orlando crowd.
Golden State pulled to seventh in the Western Conference at 32–27, and Curry’s brilliance drew MVP chants from opposing fans. Now, the Warriors will set their sights on Saturday’s matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers, and the hope of building some momentum as the regular season reaches its conclusion.
