After a rigorous and dramatic three voting rounds, Hon. Aondonna Hyacinth Dajoh emerged as the 10th Benue State House of Assembly Speaker.
Governor Hyacinth began the session by inaugurating the 10th Benue State House of Assembly, giving the 32 members a chance to elect their speaker and deputy speaker. The members vying for the post, were Hyacinth Dajoh representing Gboko West and his rival, Becky Orpine representing Gboko East.
The drama then began, as Dajoh was backed up the Governor and some APC loyalists, while Becky had the Support of State Working Committee and the some APC loyalists. The first round ended in a tie, as they both secured 16 votes. However the Legislators engaged in an heated argument, as some accused others of plotting with the executive to exert pressure on the voters. The house however went on a 10 minutes and reconvened to continue the election
The Second and third round were conducted without the presence of the governor, Senator elect and the Party leadership, as some of the Legislators asked that the election be conducted without their presence. Hyacinth however emerged winner of the rounds.
