According to the letter made available to Channels Television, Dajoh wrote:

“I write to resign my position as the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, effective today, August 24, 2025. This is done in good faith and in the best interest of the state. I want to appreciate my dear colleagues for the opportunity they gave me to be the first among equals.”

Dajoh Steps Down but Remains a Legislator

Even though Dajoh steps down as Benue Assembly Speaker, he assured his constituents that he would continue his work as a lawmaker. Representing Gboko West State Constituency, he emphasized his commitment to legislative duties and to the people who elected him.

“I pledge to remain committed to my duties as a legislator and representative of Gboko West State Constituency,” he stated.

This pledge suggests that while his leadership of the House may have ended, his political journey in Benue politics is far from over.

Benue Assembly Prepares to Fill Vacancy

With Dajoh steps down as Benue Assembly Speaker, attention has now shifted to who will take over the position. At the time of filing this report, no official announcement had been made about his successor.

However, sources within the Assembly confirmed that the House is expected to rely on its standing orders to conduct the process of electing a new Speaker. The choice is likely to come from among the serving lawmakers, in line with legislative procedure.

Bottom Line

Dajoh steps down as Benue Assembly Speaker in what many consider a surprising political twist. His decision leaves a leadership gap in the state legislature, and all eyes are now on the Assembly to see who emerges as the next Speaker.
