Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Refinery, declared on Tuesday that petrol produced at the facility will be available at filling stations within the next 48 hours. This follows the formalization of modalities with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).
During a press briefing, Dangote stated that NNPC is responsible for supplying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to filling stations. He also explained that petrol pricing from the refinery was an arrangement by the Federal Executive Council, headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Dangote Refinery, which started operating in December last year, intends to reach its ultimate capacity of 650,000 barrels per day by year-end. It has begun supplying diesel and aviation fuel to marketers, and now includes petrol.
Dangote emphasized the benefits of President Tinubu’s “Naira For Crude” initiative, which will help reduce foreign exchange demand by 40% and stabilize the Naira’s value. Moreover, it will allow for the tracking of loaded trucks, making computation of national consumption easier.
