Danny Schofield has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Huddersfield due to the club’s defeat by Wigan in their Home on Tuesday in the Championship games, bringing to a premature end, Schofield first ever coaching role in senior football.

Schofield was appointed to be the head coach in July after Carlos Corberan departed from the club but has only been able to cliche one win and one draw in nine games as head coach.

According to Huddersfield, the decision to sack Schofield was made after their shameful defeat to Wigan in the championship games, which is not reflective of their competitive record. In the meantime, Narcis Pelach and Paul Harsley will serve as interim managers of the club.

They further thanked Schofield for his time and dedication whilst he was still at the club.

Huddersfield ranks 23rd in the championship table with four points after nine games.

“The decision was made after Tuesday evening’s Championship defeat at home to Wigan, which took our competitive record during Danny’s time as permanent head coach to one win and one draw in nine competitive matches.”

“Narcis Pelach and Paul Harsley will take temporary charge and lead the team into Saturday’s league game at home to Cardiff.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Danny for his hard work and dedication and wishes him the very best for the future.”
