Davido Slams INEC Over Alleged Edo Election Malpractices: ‘Shame on You’

Superstar Afrobeats singer Davido has divided opinions over his vocal involvement in the Edo State governorship election currently underway. Although he is not from Edo State, Davido has taken to social media to lash out at INEC over sundry anomalies he claimed were recorded in the election. His sustained attack on the electoral body raised eyebrows, with many curious about what his personal interest could be in the poll.

Davido, who has been known to have participated in the Osun State gubernatorial race in which his uncle was a candidate, explained that his interest in the matter was because his late mother hailed from there, he further said that aside that, every Nigerian was supposed to show interest in the credibility of an election, no matter the State.

This is not surprising from the singer, who has always been vocal to ensure that INEC does the right thing in elections. He also took the advantage of his platform to declare his support for the PDP candidate Asuen Ighodalo, thereby increasing his involvement in what transpired in Edo State.

Davido’s loud criticism is evidence of the lingering problems within Nigeria’s electoral system; hence, the singer is again at the center to ensure things are transparently and freely conducted in the elections of Nigeria.
