Sports video service DAZN has secured the broadcasting rights to stream matches from the Saudi Pro League for a span of two years in countries such as the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and Canada. This announcement was made by DAZN on Wednesday.
In accordance with the terms of the agreement, DAZN will provide live streaming of three matches from the Saudi league each week. Additionally, the platform will broadcast all matches of Al-Nassr, a prominent club that gained significant attention last year after signing Cristiano Ronaldo and recruiting Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich in the most recent transfer window.
With the acquisition of Portugal’s Ronaldo, the Saudi league has elevated its standing by attracting top European players. This includes Ballon d’Or awardee Karim Benzema, who left Real Madrid to join champions Al-Ittihad.
DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev commented on the developments, stating, “The RSL (Roshn Saudi League) is rapidly developing into an international phenomenon, attracting some incredible talent that will only improve an already strong and vibrant competition.”
Segev further emphasized the opportunity for DAZN to raise the profile of the RSL, its clubs, and the Saudi football scene, while also enhancing the content available on the platform for its subscribers.
The forthcoming season of the Saudi Pro League commences on Friday, featuring an exciting match between Al-Ahli and Al-Hazm. Notably, Al-Ahli has made notable signings, securing players like Champions League victors Riyad Mahrez, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, and Roberto Firmino.
