Remember that annoying nagging feeling about linking your NIN to your phone line? Yeah, well, ignore it anymore at your own peril, because the noose is tightening.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) just dropped a bombshell on telcos like MTN, Airtel, and co. Bar those NIN-less lines or face the music!

Deadline Alert: Nigerian Telcos Set to Disconnect Unlinked NINs – Act Now or Lose Connection!

Now, before you start hyperventilating, here’s the lowdown:

  • No NIN, no calls: If you haven’t linked your NIN to your line by February 28th, 2024, consider your phone a fancy paperweight. Say goodbye to those endless WhatsApp chats, juicy gossip calls, and even that annoying uncle’s birthday wishes
  • NIN limbo? Not for long: Even if you submitted your NIN but it’s stuck in verification category, your days are numbered. Depending on how many lines you’ve got dancing with that unverified NIN, the axe could fall as early as March 29th, 2024 (five lines or more) or April 15th, 2024 (less than five lines).
  • No escape from the biometric wahala: Don’t even think about faking your NIN or hiding under your bed. To get your line unbarred, you gotta face the music – that means fingerprints, retina scans, and the whole process
  • Now, this might sound harsh, but let’s be real: this NIN linking saga has been going on for ages. Posters plastered everywhere, news alerts on repeat, even your grandma knows about it. Yet, some folks are still living in denial, clinging to their phones like lost treasures.
  • Listen up, stubborn Nigerians: the jig is up! This isn’t some government witch hunt, it’s about security. Linking your NIN helps curb crime, fight identity theft.

So, instead of procrastinating like a pro, do the adult thing and get your NIN sorted. Head to the nearest NIMC office, dust off those fingerprints, and reclaim your rightful place in the connected world. Remember, February 28th isn’t far away, and trust us, you don’t want to be that person frantically begging for forgiveness at the last minute.

This is your friendly neighborhood news writer signing off, reminding you that sometimes, facing reality (and the NIMC office) is the only way to keep your phone buzzing happily. Don’t be a statistic, be a responsible Nigerian – get your NIN linked, today!
