Dissident Enogie Receives Amnesty and Food from Benin’s Oba

Following a dramatic and failed coup attempt to destabilize the Benin Kingdom, certain purported actors, Enogie (Dukes), have freely pledged their loyalty to the great Benin kingdom.

The Dukes claimed they were duped into signing the alleged letter in November 2022, seeking the Edo State government to establish a rival Benin Traditional Rulers Council (BTC) for the seven Benin-speaking Local Government Areas that comprise Edo South Senatorial districts.

His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, has accepted the Dukes’ apology and extended a hand of fellowship to them in the distribution of provisions, in keeping with his fatherly nature.

HRH Sylvester Ogiesoba, Enogie of Ogua village, and HRH Imagbenikaro Ekhosuehi, Enogie of Oka N’ Izevbihen, both from the state’s Ikpoba-Okha local government area, praised Oba Ewuare II for the gift in an interview with newsmen.

Also addressing, HRH Orobosa Agbongiazowe, Enogie of Isievbe village, and HRH Usuanlele Iyengumena, Enogie of Uma village, both in Edo State’s Uhunmwode Local Government Area, thanked the Oba for the food and asked God and his ancestors to bless him.

On behalf of the traditional rulers, the Enogie of Ehor village, HRH Ehigiamusoe Igiehon, and his counterpart in Ihovbo village, both in Uhunmwode local government area, the Priests of various deities, including Ohen-Awan of Ivbiotor village, Mr. Egharevba Igbinehi; Ohen of Ikhuen-Obo, Mr. Ekpen Aighobahi
