For many women, their most dreaded time of the month is the time of their menstrual period. Some women don’t experience this, but for those that do, the experience is usually unexplainable and indescribable. As a result of this pain, many women have tried to look for ways to reduce or minimise the terrible feeling. Some do exercise before and during their periods, while a lot of people use drugs.

These days women just go to the pharmacy to buy felvin or novalgin. Are these drugs really safe? How much is too much? Are there side effects? I’ll take my time to explain these things one after the other. I mentioned felvin and Novalgin because they are the most used drugs for menstrual cramps.

Felvin is a brand of piroxicam drug. It is said to be non steroidal and anti inflammatory and used in treating inflammation, fever and pain. This drug is supposed to be used based on prescription. But the way women, take these drugs will leave you in disbelief. They just use it based on the more they take in, the lesser the pain. Well, this work, but I’m not sure they’re aware of the side effects.

First off, piroxicam capsules can cause infertility. I’m sure most of you didn’t know that the drug interferes with the cycle of the consumer and leads to infertility. The infertility can be temporary, but if the consumer continues to depend on the drug regularly, the tendency of infertility becomes higher. There are situations where doctors have warned women trying to conceive to stay away from this pain relief drug.

If you do not believe this, make the research by yourself. Another reason why too much dependence on felvin is detrimental to the health is that is causes alot of other health problems. Such as liver problems, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, heartburn, nausea, constipation, bloating, rash, frequent urination and a few others.

What about Novalgin? Well, it belongs to the family of Acetaminophen. People also use this as a pain relief drug, but just like felvin, dependence on it is also as terrible. Liver problem is one of the major problems. Rashes, anorexia, excessive sweating, fatigue, paleness and even vomiting.

What then can women use for Pains during their periods? Hot baths during periods have proven to be very helpful for alot of women. Some use hot compresses on their lower abdomen, as well as on their lower backs. Exercises should also not be ignored before periods. Plenty of water is advised during periods. Anti-inflammatory foods should also be consumed such as ginger, turmeric, garlic. Avoid foods high in sugar, salt and fat. Take less coffee. Have plenty rest!
